Light to Home Project
India is a land of vast diversity with white snow capped mountains on top to deep blue oceans at the bottom, with dense green cover on east to vast deserts to the west, with highest rainfall in east to draught like deserts in west. Such a diversity and geo-political terrain of the country creates a contrast and throws many a challenges for equitable growth and development of nation as a whole. The growth and development today throws two distinct images of India with one matching the contemporary cosmolitan culture, architecture with economic growth and another lacking even the basics amenities.
Energy is the greatest levelers of modern times and has the potential to transform standards of living and mitigate many a challenges that our rural folks are forced to face with. The highlight of the present energy scenario of the country has nearly hundred percent electrification on urban planes while the rural space is marked with scanty power infrastructure with massive load shedding and power cuts. No doubt, there exists a great divide between the urban and rural India. Mission Rural India seeks to reduce this divide wherein LIGHT TO HOME PROJECT aims at bringing Light to Every Home. The broad highlights of the Project are :-
- Light to Home Project envisions a scenario where every household is illumined with light and benefit from the advances and developments of modern times.
- Create massive awareness about energy paucity and need for renewable energy sources.
- Encourage entrepreneurships amongst the unemployed youth of the state.
- Train and Develop unemployed youths as Urja representatives.
- Develop appropriate linkage with Industry, Institution, Public and Private bodies to collaborate and facilitate the mission by supporting MRI initiatives.
- Light to Home project seeks to empower 50,000 youth by training and developing them as self employed entrepreneurs working in their own setup and at their own places and making a decent living.
- Light to Home project seeks to check the challenges of massive migration from Rural to Urban area by providing them opportunity to develop their own business; building their own self image and making them valuable contributors to national cause.
- The first pilot project to train 1000 people is likely to rollout by 2012 beginning.
